Jesus asked several of His disciples, “Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15, Mark 8:29, and Luke 9:20) That is an incredibly important question.
At the same time, your identity matters too. It’s important to realize that the Lord answers the question, “Who does God say that I am?” for us. Treat these scriptures and truths as life anchors – let them remind you and ground you in who you are as a Christian believer! We are building this list every week.

|---|---|---|
| You are created in His image. | Genesis 1:27 So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. | Before anyone else defined you, God made you in His image. What an honor! Whose definition of your worth have you been listening to lately, and what false label do you need to trade for God’s truth today? |
| You are fearfully and wonderfully made. | Psalm 139:13-14 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. | You are not an accident. God crafted you fearfully and wonderfully in your mother’s womb. You are one-of-a-kind and priceless. Your value, your worth doesn’t change because of a situation or because of what another person says or does. If your value was set before you ever had a phone, a GPA, a mirror, or others trying to define you, how does that change the way you think about yourself? |
| You are set apart and appointed. | Jeremiah 1:5 “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” | You are set apart. God has given you certain gifts and talents that others don’t have. We NEED you to be YOU, not an imitation of someone else. It’s thought that Jeremiah was around your age when he received this message. Let’s continue to discover the gifts and talents God has blessed YOU with. For Jeremiah, God said, “Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” For you, it’s “Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as ________.” What would God fill in the blank with for you? Let’s continue to discover who God has made you to be! |
| You are God’s masterpiece. | Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. | If other people, your inner voice, the enemy, your feelings, social media, or whenever anything or anyone makes you feel “less than” or worthless, THEY ARE WRONG. You, my friend, are priceless. Don’t let anything or anyone rob you of who God created you to be. You truly are His masterpiece. (Masterpiece = a creation done with great skill, representing either an artist’s greatest work or a supreme artistic and intellectual achievement.) |
| You are intentionally designed. | Psalm 139:15-16 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. | Intention (what one intends to do) is powerful. Here, we see that every detail of who you are was intentionally designed by God for a purpose. That means something. You mean something. God doesn’t make mistakes. Trust who He has created you to be. |
| You are part of God’s intentional and unshakable plan. | Psalm 33:11 But the LORD’s plans stand firm forever; his intentions can never be shaken. | Previously, we learned that we are intentionally designed, with a purpose. This builds on that because your purpose isn’t just about you. There’s a bigger story. You are part of God’s intentional and unshakable plan. You are not just a cosmic accident. If life ever feels meaningless or pointless, remember that your story matters because it is part of God’s greater story and plan. I am SO grateful for you and your story and couldn’t be more blessed that you’re part of mine. |
